Some weddings are beautiful. Others are meaningful. And occasionally, one comes along that is both — like the May 2024 wedding of Lainie and Kent, expertly designed and produced by Blair Sims of Blair Sims Events. More than just an elegant celebration, this wedding stood out for its deep personal touches, genuine connections, and a unique design that quite literally took inspiration from the bride’s dress.

Blair knew this couple was special from the start. “They were one of the best couples I’ve worked with,” she said. “They were so kind — not just to me but to every vendor. We still keep in touch. They even gave my son a gift when he was born.” Their kindness shaped a wedding filled with warmth and joy. Guests could feel it the moment they walked in.

This wedding’s design centered on a floral pattern from the bride’s gown. Blair worked with a graphic designer to recreate the motif in blue and white. The custom vinyl covered the dance floor, stage, backline, bar, and seating chart. “It wasn’t one large bar wrap,” Blair said. “Each flower was an individual sticker we placed one by one. It was tedious but worth it.” Blair also sourced custom linens, mix-and-match dishes, and new lounge seating from Marianne’s Rentals.

The couple gave Blair full creative freedom. They reviewed mock-ups but trusted her vision completely.
Setup took two full days to complete. Day one focused on staging and big pieces. Day two handled place settings and details.
Blair’s favorite moment was the room reveal. “The groom actually cursed — in the best way — he was so blown away,” she said.
Blair couldn’t stop admiring the finished space. Florals, vinyl, linens, dishes, and invitations all tied together into one stunning, cohesive design.

Blair credits her success to strong vendor relationships and a solution-first mindset. “Nobody’s perfect — I’ve made mistakes,” she admitted. “But I can always call my vendor friends for help, and they call me too. We work together to fix issues without stressing the client.” That teamwork keeps her events seamless and stress-free for couples.

Blair encourages other planners to make events unique to each couple. “I want people to walk in and say, ‘This is so them,’” she explained. Whether it’s a pet monogram or golf ball seating chart, those personal touches matter most. Blair has designed many unforgettable weddings but dreams of an outdoor celebration without a tent. She imagines trees and drapes forming a tent-like space under perfect skies. If her past work is any clue, she will make that dream stunning.
